Art and Culture

Dears readers,

Yesterday night, I saw the fabulous Opera: Rigoletto by Giuseppe Verdi.

The National Opera and Ballet is a national cultural institution in Bulgaria that covers opera and ballet. It is based in an imposing building in Sofia. The first opera company in Bulgaria was founded in 1890 as part of the Capital Opera and Drama Company. The institution became a national one in 1922 and changed its name to National Opera. The todays building opened in 1953.

Rigolleto is an opera in 3 acts by Giuseppe  Verdi. It is considered by many to be the first of the operatic masterpieces of Verdi's middle-to-late carrer. Its tragic story revolves around the licentious Duke of Mantua, his hunch-backed court jester Rigoletto, and Rigoletto's beautiful daughter Gilda. The opera's original title, La maledizione (The curse), refers to the curse placed on both the Duke and Rigoletto by a courtier whose daughter had been seduced by the Duke with Rigoletto's encouragement. The curse comes to fruition when Gilda likewise falls in love with the Duke and eventually sacrifices her life to save him from the assassins hired by her father.

We had the chance to listen to the amazing soloist, Vesselina Vassileva in the role of Gilda.
You can hear her magical voice in this video: Gilda, Caro nome.

For those who have the chance to be in Sofia in 2 weeks, there will be The Pearl Fishers by Georges Bizet with Vesselina Vassileva as a soloist again, and I'm trully thinking of going to see it!

Hello everyone!

Last week in Paris I saw a very special exhibition to me The Saga of the Thracian Kings Archaeological Discoveries in Bulgaria in the Musée du Louvre.

If you want to discover a bit of Bulgarian treasures, you have to go to see this exhibition which takes place until 20 July 2015 in the most famous Parisian museum le Louvre.

This exhibition includes all the golden treasures of the Thracian time period of Bulgaria (600 BC- 46AD) all Bulgarian museums lent their works of this antique art especially for this exhibition.

It's the first time this exhibition is organised and it's such a success as many world-famous museums also want it!

This exhibition is a beautiful example of the culture wealth of Bulgaria, my native country!

I hope you will all have the possibility to see this exhibition!

Hello everyone!

On my first post I told you I was going to show you a little preview of the fantastic Jean-Paul Gaultier exhibition which takes place at Grand Palais in Paris until 3 august 2015.

It is provocative, extravagant, avant-garde and gives a perfect retrospective show of JPG’s work.

For me he is a Master, a genius designer and artist.

The exhibition is playful and even people who are not fashion addicts would be interested in it, I promise !

You can find more information here: http://www.grandpalais.fr/en/event/jean-paul-gaultier

Hope you'll enjoy the post!

Have a beautiful day!

Xoxo
